Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
Short version: you give us your email, we send you one local newsletter a week, and that's it. We don't sell your information, and you can leave anytime with one click. The longer version is below.
Who we are
Middletown Pulse is a free weekly email newsletter about events and local happenings across Greater Middletown, Connecticut (Middletown, Cromwell, and Portland). You can reach us anytime at erik@middletownpulse.com.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you subscribe. That's the only thing we ask for.
- How you found us, when you arrive from one of our ads. We pass along simple campaign tags (which ad you clicked) so we know what's working. No names, no profiles.
- Basic activity that any email service records, like whether an issue was opened or a link was clicked, so we can tell if the newsletter is useful.
We don't ask for your name, address, phone number, or payment details. The newsletter is free.
How we use it
- To send you the Thursday newsletter and the welcome note.
- To measure how our ads and our content are performing, so we can make the newsletter better.
- To keep signups free of bots and spam.
The tools we use
We run this on a few trusted services, and your data passes through them only so the newsletter works:
- Kit (ConvertKit) stores your email and sends the newsletter. (their privacy policy)
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) runs our ads. We use the Meta pixel on this page to measure ad performance, so Meta can tell us a signup came from an ad. (their privacy policy)
- Cloudflare provides the bot check on the signup form and helps serve the site. (their privacy policy)
- Vercel hosts this website. (their privacy policy)
We do not sell your data, and we don't share it with anyone beyond the tools above that we need to run the newsletter.
Cookies and the Meta pixel
This site uses the Meta pixel, which sets cookies to measure whether visits and signups came from our ads. It's used for ad measurement, not to build a profile of you. You can limit ad tracking through your Meta ad settings or your browser and device privacy controls.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe anytime. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you're out, no questions.
- Ask what we have. Email erik@middletownpulse.com and we'll tell you.
- Have it deleted. See below.
Deleting your data
Want your information removed for good? Two ways:
- Click unsubscribe in any email, which stops all sending, or
- Email erik@middletownpulse.com with the subject "Delete my data."
We'll delete your email address and any associated records from our systems, and remove you from Kit, within 30 days. You'll get a note confirming it's done.
Children
Middletown Pulse is meant for adults in and around Greater Middletown. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change how any of this works, we'll update this page and move the "last updated" date. Nothing sneaky.
